Shaqra is the administrative capital of Shaqra Governorate in the Riyadh region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, located about 185 km northwest of the capital, Riyadh. It is the tattoo base and the center of administrative and commercial activity in it. Shaqra was a major stopping point on the Riyadh-Taif road before the opening of the new road.
