The city is west of Jazan, bounded on the north by Sabia Governorate, on the east by Abu Arish Province, and Dadmad Province to the northeast, and bounded on the south by each of the Samata Provinces and on the west by the Red Sea. According to Statistics 2017, Jizan has a population of 134,764, while Jazan has a population of over 1,603,659.
